Tomatoes are in the Garden!

I thought I was going to have a good day of work seeding Melons and transplanting grapes but my ‘paycheck’ work called at 10 this morning, and they needed a sub.  The mail carrier’s rig was overheating.  She had the mail sorted but couldn’t deliver.  Ken was working on my car, the air conditioner pulley was rattling like a baby rattle on Saturday, it was a wonder I made it through the route.  Thank you, God!  He was able to finish fixing it quick and get me off.  Meanwhile back at the ranch Ken got alot done.  He transplanted 5 rows of Tomatoes into the hoop house and put the plastic covering on it.

He transplanted the tomatoes first and covered them with the row covers; The hoop houses are so short on the sides that it is impossible to work in there if you cover it with plastic first.  He finished 5 rows,  I was amazed I thought he would only get three in the hoop houses.

And of course when he was done he had to take a breather.  A job well-done.

Guess what else I found is growing behind our backs.  The corn is 5 inches tall and already needs weeding.  He had to shovel dirt around the edges of the corn tunnels today.  The rain and wind keeps blowing them off.  They are great for heat but quite the pain.  Looks like we might have 4th of July corn-on-the-cob after all.  Well, I better get to work and see if I can accomplish something today, also.  Go Ken Go!
